T Mobile G1

In an effort to not be the grinch this Christmas, T-Mobile have dropped tariff pricing on the G1 Google phone just one month after its release. The G1 is only available for purchase from T-Mobile.

This move is seen as an attempt to overcome strong competition from other high-end smartphones.

Tariffs have slashed their G1 tariffs by £10, which makes the G1 a more competitive handset in the market. The handset was released at the start of November this year, and was initially on a tariff of £40 per month. The G1 is now able to be purchased free on a £30 per month tariff.

T-Mobile said this move was not a reaction to poor sales, and that it is on track to hit its predicted G1 sales targets.
This year the G1 “Google Phone” is head-to-head against the Blackberry Storm from Vodafone, and the iPhone on O2.
